Painted hub caps

What do you guys think about painted hub caps? I can't really afford wheels right now, and plain steel wheels are getting boring, I'd like to paint them but I'd like to do right the 1st time, dont want the car to look ricey though, and I know some people think painted hub caps are cheap. Just want your oppinions. Thanks.
