Hi everyone!

I just started driving a 2008 Nissan Versa SL Hatchback a few weeks ago. I have been a member of the 200sx forum for many years so I knew where to come to find you Versa owners. Look forward to learning from you and possibly helping others to as I learn more about mine. I kept my 95 200sx road worthy for over 13 years of it's 20 year life included timing chain and head gasket replacements along with all the common oil leak fixes too. I hope to have as good of luck with this Versa at doing the same. Having a car lift in my garage and that makes it all a lot easier.

I bought this Versa from a small car lot about 50 miles away. It's a 2008 Versa SL Hatchback 1.8L 6 speed manual trans with alloy wheels, proximity keyless entry and start, and lots of other handy options that are probably part of the SL package. I especially like the radio and the Blue Tooth connectivity for my smart phone.

The car had about 91,200 miles on it when I picked it up and I have put about 500 miles on it in the last two weeks. I have noticed a few things about it. Leaking oil seal on the 6 speed trans at the passenger side CV axle. Have ordered the new seal and will be tackling that soon. A slight thump or pop sometimes when starting off with the wheel turned. I have ruled out CV Joints and I suspect that it's the Strut Bearings giving resistance causing the coil spring to bind a bit before finally pivoting on the strut bearing. My 200sx did that too, but much worse, over the last several years.

Since you all have a lot more experience with these cars . . . anything else I should check or keep an eye open for?

All suggestions welcome!

Thanks,
Pete

Welcome Pete!

There is a recall recently issued for the coil springs, if you haven't done it yet, I'd recommend you buy the strut bearings (they are cheap on amazon), and take to the dealer to replace the springs, and ask them to do the bearings while at it (mine did it free, ymmv).

It's a quite common problem with the versa, I got around 30k km on the new bearings, and so far so good.

Cheers :)
