I've installed at least 6 aftermarket stereos over the past 20 years, all Pioneers except 1, never had any problem with any of them. Your description however appears to be a head unit problem. I hope it is still under warranty.
Problem with aftermarket stereo head
I've got a 2007 sedan that I've installed a PIONEER DEH-2500UI in (September 2013). It worked fine up until last week. Sometimes it won't start up when the car is turned on, other times it will, and every once in a while, when an iPod or iPhone is plugged in, it gets stuck and begins repeating a short loop of whatever was playing.
Has anyone had this problem with an aftermarket system before? No other electrical in the car seems to be affect. Pulled it out the other day and everything was still connected, so I'm wondering if this is a problem with the unit.
