My 2008 Automatic Versa isn't really shifting into Reverse.

as of this post, I don't think I'll get the car looked at Today.
so I won't have a diagnosis, but I was fishing for info

All this week I have been noticing my Reverse has been getting slower and Slower to engage to the point where it stopped engaging and had to rev my engine to get it to Engage
Then it never Fully engaged at all but would skip and shutter back
at about the same RPM range (2-3K)
and Now it even weaker and having to rev the motor to 3-5K to get it to skip weakishly back

and this all happened All the sudden.
I wasn't progressive as much as in Steps. Just one day noticed it was alil slow to engage
Then Mid night on my deliveries it Got even Longer

Midnight a following day, Even Longer
Till the following day it failed to engage till a revved the motor.

the car is WAY out of warranty at 180K miles so...Any idea?

I'll keep you guys posted, incase anyone has simpler issues down the road

As another poster suggested, I would check the transmission fluid and make sure it is up to par. There is also a possibility that the shifter linkage could be worn, and is not fully putting the transmission in gear. If all else fails, I would have the transmission fluid changed out and see if that helps solve the problem. Good luck
