Pulling Versa Motor

12623 Views 11 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  stevenleepippin
I have a 2007 Versa Hatchback with a blown motor. I plan to swap in a new motor and was wondering if I can remove the the motor with out removing the manual transmission.

Also I heard that is is possible to take off the front of the car to gain access to the engine compartment.

Any tip and pictures would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Mark

i think you have to pull it all out, im not sure. but damn ANOTHER blown 2007 motor... thats like the 4th including myself i know about.
I would take the engine and tranny out together as one unit. Then while out unbolt the tranny from the old engine and bolt up to the new engine and put back in as one unit.

Agree here. WAY easier to remove them both. All the motor jobs I have done, 80% have been done with the trans.
How many miles on the blown engine?:(
that's what I was going to ask...

I'm at 82,000 miles 2007 1.8 if it blows, I'll go 2.0 :thumb2:

I got a 2008 with 76k now. If it blows I'm getting me a Sentra engine, and will probably switch from CVT to a 6 speed.

mine blew at 66k miles and 2transmissions (bad syncros in 3rd gear, but covered under warranty).

if you can get a 2.0, DO IT. :thumb2: totally worth it :ihih:

after all that I can't believe your still a fan of the Versa or Nissan in general. I would have jumped ship on the company all together if it were me.

I hope they last long time.

The key is changing the Oil on time and making sure it doesn't get low.
Thank you for the feedback

I have removed the front bumper and supports and will proceed to pull both the trans and motor.

I spun a bearing at 42k am replacing it with a motor that has 7900 miles that was pulled from a wreck

Will keep you posted

I have 2010 versa 210,000 miles and it still runs pretty good never had a problem with the tranny until now
