I wanted to the wife was complaining so we had it done, was like 200 bucks for the install, big waste of money there. Then the morons disconnected the airbag swich, so i had to reset it. would have been easy to install but oh well

dave
I just ordered some speakers can't remember the name off the top off my head but I do know they are sony. I'm an eletrician for the Navy and I've wired equipment that cost more then the car lol but for some reason I'm nervous about wiring these new speakers any advice or some calming words?
its easy, only 2 wires

is that calming words?
you will be fine, just make sure you keep the polarity correct, it is pretty simple, do you have the mounting adapters to mount them, if not i know some people who used a paint can lid or something
Yes I believe the mounting adapters come with the speakers. After these speakers I'm off to getting some tints but I'm having trouble on finding an example of how much tint I can have. My brother got 3% on his car and it looked bad ass, the ticket he got wasn't.
yeah not sure of tint laws where you are, in illinois rear windows can be as dark as you want as long as you have 2 side mirrors, and you cant have any in front.

I would google it, and see the exact legal amount, you can probably go slightly darker

Illinios tint laws suck, imo. You might be able to get a medical exemption from your optometrist if you experience trouble seeing with glare. ...just a thought. ...go see an eye doctor and explain your troubles. :ihih: :wink5:

As for the tint film itself, be sure to get a quality film installed that has a lifetime written warranty covering fading, discoloring, bubbling, peeling, and cracking.
hey guys i'm new here and i have a 2008 v s and i'm looking into replacing the hu and the speckers and maybe putting in a powered sub. any ideas would be great thanks.
Hey and welcome to the forums :)

What sort of thing do you have in mind? Do you have brands/options in mind or a budget etc etc? Are you just looking for info on what size speakers to fit, wiring diags etc?
i can tell you the setup i posted in the first post sounds really good with the V, the sub takes up little space in the V, but actually sounds really good.
hey dave i got a question for you, did you try to put the sub under one of the seats or would it not fit

i was thinking about putting in a kenwood head unit but cant figure out which one would sound better. im also wondering how hard it would be to replace it. i not sure what speckers to use. any advice would be great thanks.
i dont think it will fit under the seat, ill check later tonight when i get home from work,

Polk Audio db651s theese are the speakers i have and they sound great, HU im not really sure on I used the existing one from the ST i had in there, thats about 3-4 years old
all i can say is good luck running the power wire through the firewall... youll see what i mean when you get there....
I had those speakers when they went on sale at Circuit City (Wayyyy before the liquidation)

I liked them, with the exception that the low's were cut off =\
Hey Guys, a random note on sound. Went today and purchased a Rockford Fosgate Amp and P1 Subwoofer in a shallow Truck Style Amp box along with a Panasonic Radio. Want to save space but still upgrade the stock package. Also will be replacing the stock speakers with a set of Punch full range speakers and and tweeters. Install date isnt untill next sat but i will post pics when its done. Nice part is the radio i picked has a wireless remote and a built in ipod connection. Since the V dosent push that much power ive decided to have more fun making it look sick, i know that probably puts me into the "rice burner" catagory but meh. Also have an interior light kit on the way but im probably going to rig a dimmer on it, dont want the car 2 bright, would rather a softer effect.
cant wait to see the photos of the finished look
