Hi, Wasn't sure where to post this as I am new here.

I have a 2012 Nissa Versa Sedan w/about 70K miles.

Today when I started my car, I heard a rattling coming from under the middle/rear of the car.
It does it while in park and when I put the car in drive. When I turn the car off, it continues for a couple of seconds then stops. Any ideas what this could be? I'm hoping it is just something loose vibrating.

I had the car in the shop two weeks ago because of a different rattle, which turned out to be the heat shield, but that was coming from the front. Also had the rear/front brakes inspected and a mass flow sensor replaced.

Is there more than one heat shield on the car?

Thanks in advance for any info. It is going into the shop Thursday, just trying to get a head's up on what I might expect.

More than likely it is one of the exhaust system pipes, hangers or muffler that is causing the sound. It could also be one of the baffle located in the muffler that could be causing the sound.

Heat shields on FWD cars often extend the length of the car underneath it. Could easily be another section loose and more so if you hit something to run over it, the whatever didn't jump out of the way after damaging the front piece to rattle = more in back.

My wife does it all the time, the fix most of the time is 30 seconds under the car to rebend the shield by hand to stop the noise.
