Texans cannot drive when the roads are moist...not drenched or soaked...MOIST! It sprinkled today...I was on my way home from the gym and off to class and this Texan in his Honky Tonk truck rear ended me at a red light. I was just sitting there and he slams into me, thankfully he was somewhat cautious and tried moving into the median so he just clipped the driver side corner of my versa.....

Aww. Sorry to hear that.
Funny thing is when my dad was in Texas last year for work, he said they got the smallest dusting of snow, and everyone was driving out of control. He said he was driving very slow because the car did not have snow tires and he knew it would be slippery. Meanwhile he said the person behind him was pissed that my dad was driving slower than the posted speed, so he darts around him and ends up losing control and spun out into a ditch! It's like when people fly past you and are pissed that your not driving faster. Than a few minutes later you see they've been pulled over! I love that !!!! haha!

But not good to hear about your Versa. :(

That sucks man. Sorry to hear about this. I hope the rear quarter wasn't affected. If it's just the bumper and light your good. Get some fresh JDM tails and a sport bumper on his dime. :)

ooooh wow dude... there's only one good thing out of it, your quarter panel seems to have been spared... I'd guesstimate under 1500 in damage

interesting experience last night: on my way home earlier this morning around 5am, a dude in a galant decides he wants to roll thru a stop sign, this was directly infront of yankee stadium, so I see him rolling thru the stop sign and everything became slow motion, I could almost see our cars coming into contact, and since I was not traveling over 30mph I was able to come to a sudden controlled skid stop and totally avoided the fool.... THANK GOD FOR NO ABS... the rear end came around much how my 350z used to do when I'd stomp the brakes... saved my buddies who were in the backseat without seatbelts on.... anyway sorry for the thread jack just had to vent

UPdate: Filed claim with the drivers insurance company, just waiting on the adjuster to contact me. At this point I'm highly considering the sport bumpers depending on how much I'll cover for the difference.

Anyone have experience on how I can get the company to pay for the sport bumper upgrade?

allow me to chime in

Have you already notified your insurance company?
you have 2 choices in this matter, go solely through the other drivers insurance or go through yours

now, it is your choice where you want the car fixed as soon as the adjuster sees the car

depending which insurance co you decide to go with a check will be cut to you by the exact estimate the adjuster estimates...

it is in your best interest to take the car to a bodyshop that offers a lifetime warranty on their work...

lastly once you pick thus bodyshop you get a quote from them, and DO NOT tell them how much the check was written for, obviously you have the advantage that your car is drivable so you can shop around

lastly you must insist on BRAND NEW NISSAN PARTS... certain bodyshops will use used or aftermarket parts.... that's a NONO

this is when you have some room to work with now that you have an estimate, you can simply go to your local nissan dealer and order both the rear bumper and taillight

then all that's left is bodywork and paint :)

The "Sport" Bumper is the same price so I would recommend just taking the car to the Body Shop and talk with the manager and have the adjuster go to the Body Shop and inspect the car with the Body man...this way the Body Shop can inspect the car at the same time and point out things that the adjuster could/can miss this will also save time if the Body Shop finds something that the adjuster missed if done off site, also just inform the manager that you want the Sport Bumper and if you need it I can get you the part number.

if you have any questions regarding the accident your insurance co would happily answer them, I was rear ended in my TL-S and the insurance co went above and beyond to make sure all my questions were answered even calling the bodyshop to check on progress and they'd email me pics along the way
