I am really wanting to buy an SL leather wrapped wheel with audio controls for when I get my new aftermarket headunit. I have been watching some videos, and it seems pretty simple. I'm just wondering if anyone knows exactly how to do this, and is there a certain steering wheel puller that I need? Thanks. Will one of these do the job?

From my understanding there are two holes behind the steering wheel, (in the back cover) one on each side. If you remove the caps, u stick an Allen wrench in the hole, turn it, and the airbag pops off correct? Please tell me if this is correct, that's my only concern on how to take it off. Then I think I know how to remove the steering whee. Im also just scared the airbag is gonna pop once reconnected. Even though I know your supposed to disconnect the battery and wait 20mins, before removing it, lol.

S (power package) and SL wheels both have cruise buttons. The SL with convenience package comes with cruise control buttons, but with audio control buttons, and it's leather wrapped.

you dont have to turn the allen keys, and actually you dont have to use allen keys at all, anything that size will work.

There are 2 small tubes once you pull the plastic covers off, and basically a couple inchs in, there is a metal wire about the thickness of a hanger going across the opening. Those just need to pushed about 1/4 of an inch towards the center of the wheel. That will be enough to unhook the 2 sides, the bottom part of the steering wheel will just slide out once the the 2 sides are unhooked.

Is it worth all that work just to get buttons on the steering wheel to control the deck?
Well I can get a new versa/sentra/altima with those buttons and leather wrapped steering and pay about $230-$260 a month for 6 years for buttons, or I can deal with my $153 a month for 3 more years and add the buttons. I think ill stick with my $153, and work on it. I really don't see where it will be alot of work. All im doing is switching steering wheels with one already wired and everything on it. Just a swap, and wire the buttons to the radio, I don't see where there is alot of work. Ive spent more time installing my audio system, then what this should take. It's all in what people wanna do. Now remember, Im not taking the entire column off, just the wheel. That would be alot of work then. Removing my column, swapping ignitions, putting the new one on, etc.

Hi meow_mix450's Would you have a manual page / image on the actual Steering Wheel Airbag locking? I've been searching for screws as on most cars, but there isn't any on the 2008 Tiida I'm trying to pull apart. Thanks!!! OlleP

Oh and by the way, it was done. I did it and it took about an 1hr to remove the wheel and put the new one on. Very easy. I wrote a how to on removing the steering wheel, and another one on wiring the audio buttons. Very, very, easy project.
