I didn't see tire talk in Brakes etc so i came here.
I found some used universal 15" steel rims, and now I'm shopping for new snow tires. Pls share good experiences and the like-not-so-muches too.
I will order before end of month. Sometimes stock gets rather low quickly so I'm not waiting til Christmas again!

I had cheap cheap snows on my sentra from bigbox store, and definitely gave better traction, but were SO LOUD. My 16" Toyos on my van are dreamy but over $200 each! I just put them on for their fifth season so I am getting what I paid for...
So I am looking for what ticks all the boxes the best.
Also, I'm not keen on tires specializing in ice. I just be staying home that day cuz school buses will be cancelled!
Thanks everyone!

I bought Hankook winter tires from Canadian Tire. I love them. They were $80 for each tire, and I think they are great. I didn't have any issues with being stuck or slip sliding around. Good luck!

Been running Bridgestone Blizzaks for many years. The soft outer tread gives way to a harder inner tread after maybe four winters, but the hookup in snow is incredible!
UPDATE: Ordered tires this morning:

Let us know what you think! When you swapping them? So many people have already changed them. I'll probably wait another couple weeks.

They'll arrive within couple days, and put onto rims.
I won't put on car tho til day before snow flies [in theory]
I do have them on my van already tho.
Rims were a new order for somebody who changed their mind,
so they are nice and shiny black too
Nice and shiny new! Awesome!
My brother changed his last weekend while he was home, I thought it was too early but I guess he will need them in Ottawa before we do. I hope the weather we have been having stick around for a while! It allows me to clean the car! :)

Michelin X-Ice XI2. Traction and handling is excellent. Longest treadlife over other winter tires, based on the 3-4 months of winter out of the year. They would last 2-3 more winters over other tires. Road noise is no issue, unlike other tires that howl with huge deep wide lugs.
I know it's too late but my choices would have been conti DWS if wanting all weather and some blizzaks if going just for snow tires.

I don't deal with winter tires here, but tirerack has all ratings.

I hate my Falkens tho, http://www.falkentire.com/Tires/Ziex-ZE-512-13 This is mine, its a good ride, but it is noisy and its a bit rough on bumps.

I'm thinking about going to Goodrich or Cooper CS4s next, when I wear enough, Im down to 3 falkens and 1 kumho tire.

For quieter, smoother and longer life, get touring tires.
They are harder compound than performance tires, and will squeal more easily around corners, but only if you drive enthusiastically!:chuckle:
I probably get 205-60-15s for summer when these wear out.
Did you get your winter tires yet?

I just put my winter tires on today.

Put 'em on Nov 12th. Love 'em. Crazy sipes everywhere!

Van tire pic too.
Minimal noise increase, [except on that 12deg day...noisy!]
Bring on the snow!!!
Driving impressions to follow first snowfall...
