SR16VE VLL swap

It will have to be custom, or you could take measurements of the engine you want as well as the enginebay, and see if any existing mounts meet those specs. Sorry no one has responded yet, but there's a level of doubt from our members that a swap other than the MR20 will ever be done. Most talk about doing it and never do. Also you should make a introduction post for yourself, and car.

Seems like a lot of these engines are converted to fit the sentra. There's been SR20 swaps into the Japanese tiida, and turbo setups for the HR16 in both Japan, and China. There just isn't much demand for the versa to have power here in the states.

Such a shame. It's a great car with multiple roles it could take and it sucks that it seems wasted here.

Anything is possible with enough money. SR16VE wouldnt be the way to go. You would be better off going 20VE instead with a B15/P11 trans. I'd like to see a 3.5L VQ35 swap in the versa. I dont think the engine bay is big enough to accommodate the V6.

I have seen a VQ38DETT in a GT1 versa, but that's a race car, and it took up the entire engine bay.

I'm going to go out on a limb but if I was to do an engine swap in my Versa I would want to go with the F4R that come in our sister car the Renault Clio RenaultSport. it is a 2.0L engine that delivers 197hp. I think that would be the way to go.

all current Nissan and Renault engines are produced to be interchangeable the 1.6's in the Versa's are also sold in many Renault's as well. the MR20DE that is in the Sentra is also sold in the Renault Clio, Megane, Laguna, it a profit generator for both companies.

I'm betting an mr16ddt would be an easier swap for you MR18 versa guys. If it were me and wanting some SR action I would just buy a p10 or p11(g20). Can probably get the car and swap done cheaper and easier then the swap alone in a versa. Plus I feel they are both better cars then the V. Build quality back then was top notch. Not knocking the V but after going from a g20 to a versa it's like apples to oranges even though the car was 10 years older.

MR16DDT would be my second choice. well when my 1.8 dies in another 250K miles I figure by then I will know what to replace it with.

I took a look at the F4R engine and from the looks it'll be a tight squeeze. But the main factor is how can we locate a F4R in the States and the emission (state inspection) tests is another concern.

My idea is to call my friends in France and try to import one and see how much the cost would be.

I'm also a member of the Renault Owners Club of North America so I have some contacts. I will leave a message there and see what they think of the likelihood of being able to import the engine.

If you managed to get an engine and get it into the Versa you have to keep us posted.

I will, I love my V and want it to last at least 20 years.
