Hey guys! It's my first post in here. I'm 20 years old and an avid self made mechanic. That being said I also bought my first 2011 1.8L Manual Versa in 2010. Since then I have put 77K miles on it and I live in a bumpy city.
It's time to do some preventive maintancence which has never been done. I want to change the struts on my versa, but I took a look at it today, and noticed that the springs are in the well. I have ALWAYS had trouble with strut springs and compressing them without breaking anything. So here are my first few questions about the struts if I were to replace them:
1. How and what do I use to compress those tight springs? (Can I rent it or get it at a local auto store?)
2. What is the bar attaching to the strut (looks like a stabilizer of some sort), but I've never seen something like this before on any strut.
3. Is there anything I need to watch out for while doing this that ya'll have encountered?
Thanks for all your responses in advance!
