I think I will be taking in the Versa to the dealership on Wednesday (tomorrow I work).

I noticed in the past that my sunroof (back end) is not flush with the roof. And a couple of weeks ago when we had a really bad rain storm, I could feel small drops of water periodically fall from the area of the sunroof. If I stick my hand underneath the rear of the sunroof I can see my fingers through it. I even showed my dad, and the sunroof is not sealed properly near the back, and it is not flush with the top of the roof.

I even stopped at Nissan today to look at the other Versa's there, and many of them have the sport package with the sunroof, and their sunroofs are completely flush with the roof. I think there is definitely something wrong with mine. It operates perfectly fine, but it is not sitting properly when closed.

I am going to bring it in on Wednesday (unless I get called in to work) and ask them to fix it while that is still under warranty. Hopefully it can be fixed quickly. I'll keep you posted.

If anyone else here has the sunroof, please let me know how yours is. I will take a picture of mine and post it to show you how it is not levelled with the roof of the car.

Yes I always use my sunroof. But it is leaking while it is closed. I'll take a picture and show you what i mean.

The actual glass is not lining up straight with the top of the roof. There is quite a gap, and compared to the other Versa's you can really notice a difference. Hopefully they can fix it ... don't know how they will do that :S

Lol. Well it doesn't leak ALOT, just when it's raining really heavy, but she will be back in the garage in a few minutes, so all is good.

I mainly want them to fix it now, so that it doesn't happen again in the future when the warranty is up. I don't even know what they can do to fix it, they may need a new piece of glass, as I do not think this piece is curved the right way to fit evenly with the roof.

this reminds me of a story my mom always tells me... when she lived in detroit before i was born, she had a pontiac firebird trans am with a "T roof" the panels got stolen when she was at work and it snowed and filled her car with snow.... and they had to shovel it out

I know it is hard to see in the pictures. I tried to white out most of the background, and have whited out until the top of the roof line where the sunroof should meet to be flush with the roof. However, you should notice where the thought bubble is, the density of the roof (red part) to the glass. The glass should really be sitting up higher near the middle in order to be correct and flush with the roof.

I'll definitely be taking her in on Wednesday. We just went back to Nissan and I had my dad look at the other Versa there, and it is sitting perfectly. I definitely think mine has some sort of defect.

On a side note, my younger brother loved the matador red Sentra SE-R (09) that was sitting there for sale. They are having the fall clearout. It is actually very nice looking. He is going there tomorrow morning with my dad to test drive it and find out how much it will be with taxes. It is currently listed at $19,995 on sale right now. So they want to see how much they will get for his trade in, and if my dad can get a bigger discount since we just bought my car from them last year!?

if they do not find any loose hardware they will probably try to replace the "plastic" sunroof frame which might be cracked or other wise broken.

I honestly do not think it is the frame as it needs to be fixed near the roof, and the frame is at the front (near the windshield), but they can do whatever they want.
But if it still is not flush with the roof, I will make them fix it again. Compared to the other new Versa's on the lot with sunroofs, mine clearly has a problem. I know it's hard to depict from the picture :S

Okay. So I just dropped her off w/ my dad. They asked us to leave her there for today, and the shuttle just dropped us off at home.
The guy told us that this was not covered under warranty, because apparently it needs adjustment, and that it is my responsibility to inform them of this within one year. My dad was not happy. We are not experts on this, and we did not know how the glass is supposed to look. It was not until a few weeks ago that we felt rain drops that we realized it needed to be fixed. He kept saying, he would see what he could do. If they want to charge us my dad said he will speak to the manager. Especially considering the fact that he just purchased a second car from them yesterday.
I hate how they put the blame on you. What do they think I do, sit on top of my roof to push it out of place. I know one thing, I am not paying to fix that. If they want to charge for it, my dad said he will try and fix it himself. I just don't get why they tell you everything is covered in the extended warranty, and then we go there finally for one problem and it suddenly is not covered.

Do you have another dealer you can go to? BTW this is exactly why I don't get any extended warranties. I had it once and every single time I brought the car in they found a way to not cover it. Or they would cover the part ($20) and not the labor ($400). Extended warranties are a scam and you end up paying a few thousand for them over the life of the car. Honestly that few thousand if you just saved it would fix probably any issue that came up with your vehicle.

Also maybe try and contact nissan corporate if you feel this definitely should be covered by warranty. That is if your extended warranty is through nissan and not just that particular dealership.
