from what i recall as far as Nissan's CVT's go, it has always been better to use Nissans fluid as everyone that i've known to use aftermarket fluid has had issues when not using Nissan's CVT fluid. as far as how many quarts though, i believe it might be in your owners manual.

I recently read a Nissan advisory letter about CVT transmission. They said to use Nissan Transmission fluid specially made for Nissan CVT transmission. Also DO NOT overfill transmission. There are 2 notches on dipstick, make sure the fluid is between those 2 notches. Furthermore, the report said to use a 50/50 antifreeze water mix in radiator. From what the report said, it seems Nissan's CVT transmission has close requirements on fluid and temperature. If You are stuck in safe mode limited to 5 mph, disconnect negative pole on battery for a while. This is supposed to get the car out of that save mode for a short time, if the engine is cooled down. Hope everyone gets their CVT transmissions back in ballance.
