I just bought a 2011 versa today. on my way home I used the turn signals of course but the indicator lights on the dash do not work. no sound or nothing. the signals do function on the outside though. Now this is a base model. I mean this thing didnt even come with a radio. So I wanted to ask you guys before I went to dealership. Is this normal for the base model or not? Thanks for your help

do any of your other dashlights turn on when you toggle your lights on? you should have turn signal indicator lights. maybes its a blown fuse?
I own a 2010 base model and everything works fine. I'd get the dealership to look at it.
does not sound normal, it should let you know the signal is on.

you could be driving with the blinker on... and not knowing it is on so I do not believe this is normal
yes all other dash indicator lights seem to work. thanks for your help I will contact the dealership. Thanks again for your help.
Got if Fixed?

Were you able to get this fixed I am having the same issue with my 2011 versa.. If you could tell me what you did please..

thanks
I just bought a New Versa the same problems, also the key in ignition chime and a few others did not work. I just opened the Fuse cover below the Dash and the Storage Fuse was pulled, so I just pushed it all the way in and everything works great
I also just bought a 2011 Versa SL today and same thing i notice on the way home that my turn signal indicator lights in the dash werent working but the turn signals outside of the car were. I opened the fuse box area in front of the drivers left knee area and pushed in the black square plastic in the center which went in some and sorta clicked then everything worked =) so thats your fix if you you come accross this problem. Enjoy your new car everyone =)
I just bought one last night. It has the same problem. I will have to call the dealership on monday. I am very disapointed that a brand new car has a problem like this. Thats not the way I wanted to start out my with my new car.
You might get a free oil change out of this situation when you take the car back to the dealer.
THANK YOU!!

I bought a 2012 Nissan Versa 2 weeks ago and questioned the salesman during the test drive about the lack of bright/dimmer switch and turn signals inside the car. He said it was probably one more thing Nissan cut to make the car affordable. This seemed like a liability issue to me for Nissan though. My husband emailed Nissan, no response other than a standard "We've opened a case; here is your number..."

Today, I rode an oblivious 10 miles with my blinker on, got disgusted and googled it to see if others hated this "cut" also. Found you guys' forum, popped the fuse cover off and there was that black fuse hanging down. I cannot TELL you how happy I was. My faith was restored in Nissan that they didn't cut something so necessary just to drop the price. I truly am loving my car now and my husband thinks I'm a genius. Can it get any better? :ihih:

Btw, hubby called the dealership and they weren't even aware of that fuse needing pushed in. Sounds like some communication problems somewhere between Nissan and dealers and that it's deliberate since it's been apparently happening since the 2010 model. Not sure I understand why they ship it that way though. If anyone finds out, I'd love to know.

Thanks so much for starting this forum. YOU MADE MY DAY!!!!

Glad we can help and that is exactly what the forum should do.

This problem here is all too common. It seems they ship them this way for a reason. One person said odometer reading and I think maybe to save the battery during delivery. Looks like a batch of cars at the port didn't get their plastic pushed or maybe dealers are supposed to do this and Nissan corporate didn't send the memo.
I bought an 11' base model back in January and didn't have that issue. But I'm glad we have a smart cookie in the forum that figured it out all by herself =)
I just bought a new 2012 Versa and after I was on my way home i noticed the same problem that everybody is talking about here. I will check the fixes you guys have posted and will advise.
We just bought a 2012 Versa today, and had the same problem. When we pointed it out to the sales guy, he said he'd never seen that, but he was sure it's just an "option" that Nissan built in for people who don't like the lights and noise. Ha! We'll be heading out in a few minutes to see if our issue is the fuse, which I'm about 99% sure is the case after reading this forum. Thanks all!
And yes, it was the fuse. Problem solved. Sales guy is an idiot. And you all rock. :)
It's not just Eco cars being built improperly, these kind of problems happen with all cars. I remember a segment Jeremy Clarkson did on Top Gear, he wanted a Ferrari, bought one, and a few month latter he said things inside the car started coming apart. Just an example. Doesn't matter what kind of car you buy, your gonning to have issues.
To anyone else with this problem, we discovered something else about it today that could be helpful to know: After the fuse gets plugged in, it's apparently important to hold down both the turn signal stick and the headlight stick for a minimum of five seconds. This re-sets everything and makes the dash lights act normally and also makes the key fobs work, or so we're told. Anyway, if you have the fuse issue, i'd be sure to try doing that as well. Could save you a trip back to your dealer.
