Versa reliability - better info

14450 Views 24 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Mike Beacom
I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that made the differences between cars clearer. So a few years ago I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now updates actual repair frequencies, not just dots, four times a year, to track cars closely as they age.

The more owners participate, the more comprehensive and precise our information will be. Participants simply report repairs the month after they occur on a one-page survey. When there are no repairs, they simply report an approximate odometer reading four times a year, following the end of each quarter.

To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Versa, for free. I'll share results for the Versa in this thread after each update.

We've updated our reliability stats for the Versa to include owner experiences through September 30, 2016.

Repair frequencies, in terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year (lower is better):

2015 Versa: 18, low, small sample size
2014 Versa: 0, low, very small sample size
2012 Versa hatchback: 10, low, very small sample size
2011 Versa: 74, high, very small sample size
2010 Versa: 37, low, very small sample size
2009 Versa: 65, moderate
2008 Versa: 65, moderate
2007 Versa: 84, moderate

We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds", to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop:

2007 Versa: 42, 7

Additional participants always helpful, especially for years without stats or with small sample sizes.

I joined up with my 2016, looking forward to when there are enough of us to have data on this model :)
My 16 sedan S had a bad air bag module.
My 2015 SV sedan had the same thing. It didn't work when I took delivery of the car last March (a leftover 2015 model) and I didn't notice the dummy light until the first morning after I bought it.

Just joined with my 2016 Versa Note S

Thanks for posting. Glad to help out with this. I'm hoping the Versa has a long reliable lifespan.
