So after parking the versa for a year because it needed a clutch and we only needed one car in the pandemic/quarantine period, I went out to start it back up after charging the battery. At this point I found that some moisture crept into the car somehow and fried the amp and backlights in the instrument cluster. So I ordered one off eBay knowing that the milage of the vehicle is NOT stored in the cluster and went to town.

I took pictures of the milage before so there was no question as to what the exact milage of the car was before the job began.

I wrenched for a bit, connected the new one, reconnected the negative battery terminal, and the car started screaming (alarm going off). It would not stop until I took the physical key out of the intelligent key fob and started the car with it.

When I did, this was the milage:

Now why would there be a 164 mile difference?

The milage IS stored in the cluster. It is also stored in the ECM too.
