I recently upgraded my radio to a touch screen one. The radio doesn't seem to get power when car is on. Once I turn on the lights the radio gets power. Any advice on what is going on is appreciated.

Sounds like you wired the radio power to the illumination (dash lights) circut.
Need a bit more info on what year and what radio came out and new one put in.

OK. A couple of questions
1) Did you use a harness adapter, or did you wire directly to the harness?
2) What wires did you hook up power and grounds to?

If my suspicions are correct, you may have some wiring to do.

This is the common connector for Nissan radios.
The wires on pins 8 and 9 are switched power and will only be active with parking/head lights on. They are the dash light wires.
Key power on is pin 7
Battery(memory) power is pin 19
Ground would typically be pin 20, unless originally equipped with a base radio. The base radio grounds internally to itself.
Premium and Navigation radios have external grounds from pin 20 to a body ground. Aftermarket radios need this external ground as well.
The easiest body ground to access is above and to the right of the glove box. You will have to remove the glove box to access.
There is a ground point to the right of the radio opening. DO NOT TOUCH IT!!!. That is a set of grounds for the airbags.

I wired straight to it. I wired the Mustard yellow one to the radios yellow b+(12 volt power) and I hooked the ground to the black wire.

NEVER assume the wire colors stay the same................why he gave you the pinout. You MUST positively verify the match of every wire on the new unit is going to the correct one in the OEM harness. Typically a few of them can change color. Sometimes almost all of them do.

The Diagram is just to show the 20 pin radio connector. This connector is the same for all Nissan/Infinity radios, just different wire colors.
For your car, the Black wire is listed for illumination control.
