what are those parts?

hi all,

does anyone know what are those parts below?

the rusty cylinder on the left




that one i found hidden behind the motor to the passenger side

Those are motor mounts. They absorb movement
first pic shows motor mount, second one is a proportioning valve for the brakes I believe. Used in ABS systems but might also be found in non ABS systems.

How is that rusted. Its rubber. Thats gotta be dirt
The first is called a Torque Strut Mount and keeps the engine from moving too much when shifting. The second I am not certain but it looks like part of the ABS system.

Check the condition of the bushing on the inside if the mount , if it shows signs of wear , replace it . for the metal part you have nothing to worry about. If you care you could always sand off the rust and paint it .
My car does not have abs and has that brake manifold. I think its odd they sold SL's without ABS.

the strange thing is, I found the Nissan Sunny (lower/smaller model than the Versa) has ABS!!!
i don't know how people at Nissan are thinking!
Just looked it up in the FSM and it is indeed the proportioning valve like I said. It can be found on both ABS and non ABS vehicles.
