what should I expect for a fuel pump replacement???

I'm going to have to get my fuel pump replaced, as there is no way this one will go much longer. The crank times are getting ridiculous, and im afraid of hurting my starter. What is the procedure for replacing a fuel pump? Just wondering if I should clear the stuff out of my trunk (not sure where the fuel tank bolts in) or if they're just gonna be under the car. Also, has anyone had issues with them refusing service due to aftermarket parts? I have a cold air intake and a throttle controller and I don't want them to blame the part failure on that and then charge me an arm and a leg to replace. Also, what is the cost? My warranty is up and I believe there's a service bulliten out for this issue, but I'm not sure if its free or a lowered cost, or nothing. Thanks guys!

its crazy how they cover one part, but not the other.

we need instructions on how to replace the fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump to save some money

It's in the howto section :). I found a nissan document on how to do it (not full writeup) and posted it in there.
That sees to be the case. Don't take my word for it however, as I thought the FPR would be covered, and I was clearly wrong..
Thanks for the info. According to Nissan it only affects 07-09 models so I should be good...hopefully!
That sucks that they are not covering the parts for you. I have had this replaced twice so far on Kit, and hopefully it doesn't need a third replacement.
I sent an email to customer service, so we'll see what happens from here.

I understand that they guys there were just doing their jobs and whatnot, I just feel like this part should really be covered under the powertrain warranty since its a part of the fuel system.. I also feel like it would have been nice for them to let me know it wasn't covered by the warranty BEFORE they did the test.

It probably said it in the fine print..
Yeah, that would be great. We'd be banking more $$$!

I remember once a Nissan tech told me my air bar light was on and they'd charge $90 just to put the car in the computer. Pfff! Thank God I already knew why it was on, also thank God for DIYs. It was on because of my radio so if I didnt know why it was on they would've charged me $90 just to tell me it was the radio and its not covered under warranty(aftermarket radio).
sorry to jump in late.
There is a Technical Service Bulletin on the FPR: Faulty fuel pump recall! : Versa Engine, Drivetrain and Tuning Shouldn't be replaced completely free of charge?

@I <3 my HR: did you do the reset? http://www.nissanversaforums.com/how-tos/137-fix-flashing-airbag-light-after-radio-install.html
Yessir, worked the 1st time. Thanks.

recall means they fix it free. Technical service bulletin means you fix it out of your pocket.
Both of these on that link I posted ^ "by Legacy40k » Thu May 22, 2008 1:53 pm
Mine was replaced on warranty about a year ago now."

The dealer claims he never heard of the problem at all and would have to replicate it to fix under warranty."

why would genuine nissan dealers fix some under warranty and not others?
Depends on the year. The part is covered under the standard 36 mo/36,000 m warranty for all 06-09 Versas unless its a California Versa.

If its a California Versa made from 06-09, its covered under the emissions warranty-150,000 m

The emissions warranty applies to ALL 10-12 Versas as well, regardless of location.
Sorry for the misinformation. Hope all affected get fixed. Luckily mine is still doing well.
Fuel pump replacement mainly involves the stuff beside the gas tank of the fuel tank...but always be reminded that there is still a remaining gasoline on the tank and it's risky so it is advised to defumed those liquid before doing anything... anyway if you are doing the replacement are just planning to do it, there is nothing to worry about because there are a lot of supplies both local and online.
