If you get a remote start/alarm professionally installed, there shouldn't be any manufacturer warranty problems since you didn't work on it yourself. The installer would have some short term warranty, maybe a year and possibly pay more for longer.
yeah thats how mine is. I have 90 days from the installer, and 1 year from omega. they even pay for the uninstall and install if it becomes defective. But if nissan said something to me like that. I tell ya what. Id go back to the installer and pay him to take it out. And go back to the dealership, and be like "what now?" Cause they only tapped into my wires, he didnt cut them.

But the dealership told me that putting in an SL's radio in an S would void my warranty too!! But it worked, So screw them, go with ur gut. But if you are real unsure, yeah you pay more, but buy the NISMO products. It wont void a darn thing!! lol

VersaS2009: I know, that could be one way but I don't want the hassle or worry. I usually get to park in the garage anyways so it's not a huge deal. I really wanted the alarm through Nissan but they don't sell it here in Canada :(
what if you buy the factory alarm through US and go to a local installer? but you know, Im sure if you cant do it, theres a reason for it. Now that Im really starting to think, (it doesnt happen often so give me some credit) lol, Im woundering if for some odd reason your ECM doesnt have the alarm in its system??? Since we talked about ur heated mirrors, but we dont, and we have intelligent key. So I bet the ECM has something to do with that. The ECM is like the brain of the electronics, I think it stands for "electronic computer module". They had to replace mine about about 4 months after I bought the V. Cause my doors werent unlocking when I took the key out of the ignition, wouldnt lock sometimes, and id go outside and notice my doors where unlocked. So it was unlocking itself too. lol. Scary, I know. Took it in immeditally!!

Ya there is no alarm on my car, lol. You could open any door when it's locked and get in. You just can't start it without the chip being present in the car.

The panic alarm is something I have yet to ever use, and hopefully never have to use.
Well not only that. Thats one way to check, and the most effective way. But the security indicator on your cluster blinks right? Well when it blinks its indicating that the vehical has an imbolizer (chip in key) and or security system. Mines blinks without the security system. If you lock ur doors look at the light. If after you lock the doors with ur remote, if the light comes on steady, then after like 30secs it begins to blink, then the steady light indicates u have a security system. My dads SL works that way. If it comes on, then maybe you are wired for one, but its not hooked up with one. Or maybe in the fuse box, ur missing a fuse to complete the system. What did the dealer say exactly when u asked them about an alarm? U know how these versas seemed to be prewired for every darn thing, lol. one day im gonna take a look at his versas fuse box, and look at the differences. Ill take a pic of his, and u can compare. And try something new. I know in the fuse box in the engine, theres a slot for keyless 2. Mines empty, but I wounder if theres is filled. Ill have to check. I wounder if thats the missing link with u. Cause u dont have the intellgent key. I would bet more than anything keyless 2 is the intellgent system.
