VersaS2009: I know, that could be one way but I don't want the hassle or worry. I usually get to park in the garage anyways so it's not a huge deal. I really wanted the alarm through Nissan but they don't sell it here in Canada :(
what if you buy the factory alarm through US and go to a local installer? but you know, Im sure if you cant do it, theres a reason for it. Now that Im really starting to think, (it doesnt happen often so give me some credit) lol, Im woundering if for some odd reason your ECM doesnt have the alarm in its system??? Since we talked about ur heated mirrors, but we dont, and we have intelligent key. So I bet the ECM has something to do with that. The ECM is like the brain of the electronics, I think it stands for "electronic computer module". They had to replace mine about about 4 months after I bought the V. Cause my doors werent unlocking when I took the key out of the ignition, wouldnt lock sometimes, and id go outside and notice my doors where unlocked. So it was unlocking itself too. lol. Scary, I know. Took it in immeditally!!

I have no clue why, but it's not a feature sold on Nissan Canada. The salesman looked through NIssan Canada's parts catalogue and could not find it. We do have heated mirrors and our keys just have the chip built into it. I am not sure if 2010's got the ikey or not, but our Cubes got the ikey here and push button start. I might email them again and see if the 2010s got the alarm and if it's a part now in Canada. I would like the alarm because I work in a sketchy area and lots of co-workers cars have been stolen / broken into before. Although I am pretty sure HK does a good job of scaring people away, haha. I doubt many guys want to drive her around ...

Ya but that's not an alarm, that's a panic button.
If someone tries to break into my car, no alarm will sound.
Hmm I just wonder why all SL models have the vehicle security as standard. I dont think anyone would break into your car to steal your hello kitty stuff lol. Have you tried testing it by leaving the window open, locking all the doors, then opening it from the inside?

something that some nissan dealerships dont use to void your warranty is a K/N performance air filter, its kinda lame but it actually does increase horse power and also gas milage alot...(i have one) deaerships though (i work at a nissan dealership) can potentially void your warranty for anything....as previously stated above if something goes wrong in lets say intake system and you have a CAI then they could start crap about it... im not for certain but i remember a list of voids to the warranty at my work ill try to look for it and make a copy of it and post it to the forums..

Nissan should of just made all their model vehicles (i.e. Versa, Sentra etc) the same across the board from Canada, US to Mexico when it comes to features and options. They had to make it more difficult than it has to be.

Ya there is no alarm on my car, lol. You could open any door when it's locked and get in. You just can't start it without the chip being present in the car.

The panic alarm is something I have yet to ever use, and hopefully never have to use.

the dealer HAS TO PROVE that the mod you put on, damaged the part which you are warrantied for.

find a mod friendly dealer. mine is :) (to a point of course)

Well not only that. Thats one way to check, and the most effective way. But the security indicator on your cluster blinks right? Well when it blinks its indicating that the vehical has an imbolizer (chip in key) and or security system. Mines blinks without the security system. If you lock ur doors look at the light. If after you lock the doors with ur remote, if the light comes on steady, then after like 30secs it begins to blink, then the steady light indicates u have a security system. My dads SL works that way. If it comes on, then maybe you are wired for one, but its not hooked up with one. Or maybe in the fuse box, ur missing a fuse to complete the system. What did the dealer say exactly when u asked them about an alarm? U know how these versas seemed to be prewired for every darn thing, lol. one day im gonna take a look at his versas fuse box, and look at the differences. Ill take a pic of his, and u can compare. And try something new. I know in the fuse box in the engine, theres a slot for keyless 2. Mines empty, but I wounder if theres is filled. Ill have to check. I wounder if thats the missing link with u. Cause u dont have the intellgent key. I would bet more than anything keyless 2 is the intellgent system.

Mine is the SL, it has the alarm, the ikey (immoblizer) and security indicator. I also installed the factory impact sensor, where you try to break the glass, impact the body and paint, the alarm will sound. Gotta love the extra sense of protection!
