Whats this and why is it broken?

While I was changing out the cx axle today I saw this...can anyone tell me what it is? Is it to ground electrical stuff?

Thought I remembered seeing that, just checked and yep.. same thing. Not sure what it is.

It certainly does, but I'm thankful because the damages were very minor and no one was hit or hurt.

It is a ground wire. Looks like it is for the exhaust. Probably wont cause any problems, but might be a ground for the o2 senors. I took them off my truck when I put on a set of headers.
Looks like a braided ground wire. It may be your chassis ground, check to make sure you still have it. It may not hurt anything to be disconnected, but it will help the electronics to have it connected.
Mine's like that also. I will look tomorrow and see if it is supposed to connect to something
hmmm, this might explain why certain radio station got static. I thought it might be a result of me putting in an after market radio but maybe its this ground wire. Can I touch it without pulling the battery terminal?
