If it has a 1 and 2 gear selectable, it should be a 4spd, CVT's have an "L" gear to slow the engine down.
In my Rogue, that's how the CVT is, not sure if it's the same "L" gear in the versas.
If you go half, or even full throttle, it won't shift, that's the way a CVT is, it might feel like gear changes, but it's just changing ratios in the pully. In a 4spd, you can definitely feel the gear change, like a moment of low power before revving up between gears. Also, 4spd have Overdrive and CVT don't, I think.
