Why do some cars come without an in-cabin air filter?

Hey everyone,

so this is something i've been wondering about seeing as i've changed filters on two different cars one being an 2009 kia rio5 and a 2005 nissan quest.

so can anyone enlighten a noob like myself why some cars do not come with this option of having in cabin air filters?

Money and to differentiate different trim levels. Another issue is that people forget to change them or can't be bothered to get it done so the manufacturer can save a few pennies and then discontinues it. A good example is the Mitsubishi Galant where they discontinued it in the 2003 models but earlier ones had it.

The Versa calls for replacement at 15K intervals and some people do not want to be bothered paying for a cabin filter change regularly.

I don't know the answer either. What car doesn't have it?

I'm a car newbie too, and changing the in cabin filter is one of the easiest things to do, especially on the Versa.
Just a cost saving measure. Alot of cars that don't have ac do not have the cabin filter.
its just funny how two cars i've changed them on don't have them installed, and really why not? and a vehicle manufacturer cant spend about $10 bucks on this is ridiculous in my mind especially with the benefits of having one. i've seen from my own experience that swapping them out is greatly beneficial as i stopped smelling exhaust fumes and my heating system started working better
I don't think mine had ever been changed its always been marked n/a on my paper from the dealer but one I looked at my window sticker the other day it said my car came with one so I may at the dealer why they haven't changed it when I go next.
Cheap Korean manufacturing lol

If you had it I am very surprised that they haven't asked you to change it. They charge a fortune at the dealer to do it so they love asking. Don't have them change it. It's the easiest filter to change. Buy the filter yourself and then change it at home.
They are suppose to be changing its part of the premium oil change service package iv been paying for it they just been lazy I'm going to be talking to them about it. They need to be doing things I pay them to do. And I agree iv had to change dozens at work in mack trucks.
mine doesn't have one! lol

I actually think the Versa was the first one I had ever seen one in.
