DID it make any grinding or screeching noises last time it worked?
If it just quit, I would look at the switch first.

No noises is good. That eliminates problems with the glass, window channels, and regulator. Does not quite eliminate the motor though.
Start with the switch, as it is the easiest to replace.

Easy way, get access to the motor, and run to 12 volts leads from your batter, to the two prongs of the window motor, if it moves then you know it's not the motor.

You can also check the switch using a multi-meter.

Either way, you are going to have to open up the door panel.

No, he won't have to take off the door panel. Just have to pull the switch out to test the motor.

To test down: Put power on terminal 11. Ground on terminal 8.
To test up: Put power on terminal 8. Ground on terminal 11.

Not perfect, but gets you where you need to be.
