I just want opinions on what are your favorite detailing items?
Whether its a certain car wash soap, a certain clay bar, polish or scratch remover, and/or = wax.

I am going to finally be buying all the detailing stuff and I want opinions. I don't care how much it costs I have looked into products from Meguiar's to Zymol to Dodo Juice.

So please any reviews of any products would be appreciated, and maybe this thread can be useful for people in the future looking for good detailing items :)

I've been using turtle wax and interior stuff for a while, it's been pretty good so far.

It's my dad's and since his challenger is in storage I "borrow" his cleaning supplies. Cheap or should I say FREE. Hehe
I currently use Turtle Wax Ice interior spray actually. I really like it. It leaves the surface looking brand new but it is not greasy. But, I am not a huge fan of their exterior products.

Well I guess I should review the products I am using or have used.

Car wash soaps

Armor All Wash and Wax-This washing liquid is pretty good. It gets your cars clean but it may take you some good scrubbing to remove some of the tougher dirt. It leaves the car pretty shiny too! It definitely does not replace a wax though! If you can find it on sale or for cheap I would recommend it, but I truly believe there are better soaps out there.

Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash- This soap is a little bit better than the Armor All. It seems to remove dirt easier. It does not have any sort of wax additive though, but I don't think that really matters. It does not get really foamy or anything, it just gets the job done and leaves your car clean. I recommend this if you can find it for a good price, I am still going to be trying many more car wash soaps to find one I truly like.

Waxes/ Polishes

-Kit Carnauba Wax- I don't recommend this. It does not work well. Not much shine. And not much protection. It's cheap price enticed me, but I am not too fond of it.

- Nu Finish Polish- "The Once a Year Car Polish"... at least that's what they say. I used it. It applies and comes off pretty easy. It gives your car a DECENT shine, but only decent, and that doesn't seem to last long. It does seem to provide protection for your car and does bead water somewhat, but there is hardly any shine.

-Turtle Wax Express Shine- This is a spray on wax. And it actually creates a better shine than the other two. It makes your car look nice. It goes on and comes off easy. You can wax your car with this in a very short time, but if you want to keep it looking good you will have to apply this stuff every time you wash your car! It wears off quickly. But if you are looking for a quick wax before a show or something this may help you :) I recommend it for someone who is short on time and wants a short-term shine. For someone looking for a long lasting wax and shine this definitely isn't it.

Glass Cleaners

-Rain X Glass Cleaner- It repels water during the rain, which is great! It makes driving in the rain much easier due to increased visibility, but I only recommend using this on the outside part of your car windows. I really do like this stuff, but I would like to try Invisible Glass with rain repellant and compare the two. I recommend it!

-Invisible Glass- This does not repel water, but this stuff is still awesome. I use this on the interior part of my windows. It streaks even less than the Rain X! It's great! It makes glass much clearer than Windex ever could! I recommend it!

Tire Shine

-Armor All Extreme Tire Shine spray- This stuff is nice. It is super easy to apply. Just spray it on your tires and let it dry. It stays shiny for a little over a week as long as you're not driving through water all of the time. It's a very standard spray on tire shine. If that's what you're looking for, than pick this one up if you can find it on sale.

-Armor All Extreme Tire Shine gel- This stuff is also nice. It takes a bit longer to apply. As a gel you have to scrub it on with an applicator pad (which they provide with the gel). The gel produces a good shine, but it is not as "wet looking" as the spray. However, this stuff lasts quite a bit longer. Usually 2-3 weeks which is great. I would try another gel maybe if you're looking for super shine, but overall this is a good tire gel. If you can find it on sale or for a better price than the other gels then give it a shot.

Interior Cleaners

Armor All- The well known standard interior cleaner. It leaves your interior super shiny, in fact, too shiny for me. It would become a distraction sometimes while driving because of the light reflecting off of it. Using this also causes your interior surfaces to feel greasy which I hated. I don't recommend this unless you like greasy feeling interior.

Turtle Wax ICE Interior- I really do love this stuff. It applies very easy. It makes your interior look brand new. No super shine. No grease. Just a clean, brand new looking interior. I definitely recommend this product!

Random items

-Simple Green cleaner- I have used it when cleaning my engine bay. The stuff does a great job. It is much less harmful than other engine bay cleaners. It really helps to get rid of all the dirt and grime. I recommend this for cleaning the engine bay or anything around your house/garage haha.

-Kit Scratch Out- It says it can remove minor scratches, and it means minor. It wont remove anything but the tiniest of scratches and it doesn't seem to work too well at all. I don't recommend this. I was just lured in by the cheap price when I first began to attempt to detail my car.

-Water Blade- I really like the water blade! Using one will reduce the time it takes to dry your vehicle drastically! It takes so much water off. It works like a squeegee, but it's soft and flexible so it wont scratch anything. Just make sure it's clean before you use it! I definitely recommend one of these. It will help you dry your car way faster.

Wet Paint is a great product. Ordered online only. Very very good results

I use Meguiars NXT Wax , Car Shampoo, and Clay Bar kit. For interor/tires I just use whatever I have laying around.
What is wet paint?

And since both of you guys use the NXT Wax, how is it? Does it last a long time?

Wet Paint . Thats the link for Wet Paint. It is nice because is "Replaces" washing your car if you'd like. Some of the professional detailers use similiar stuff where they dont actually hose a car down before detailing it.

The NXT stuff is pretty good - it definitely leaves a nice shine with a pretty slippery surface. As far as how long it lasts...I would say quite awhile depending on how often you wash it/it rains. The NXT car shampoo does not strip wax off of a vehicle so this prolongs its life. Plus, I usually do 2 coats of the wax.
I will have to check that stuff out. And I wash my car weekly so how long do you think it would last if I did two coats? I know it's a synthetic which makes me very interested in it.

If I use the detailer, the wax under the dust/dirt is still active, smooth finish. I only put 1 coat on usually, I rarely have shade to work on it. I usually wax after a wash as well.
Yeah shade is a problem for me too. There is hardly ever shade in Texas lol

I want to respond to this thread but I'm not home to give you the exact products I use, but I am using 100% Meguiar's products,,they are by far the best and most consistent that I have used,,even using the new window cleaner,,works great
I am interested in hearing what you have to say about them! And have you tried other window cleaners? How does it compare to those?

Yah, but it hardly rains in Texas right? I get rain from night till morning, every other day. You could say I live in a rainforest....
Yeah we definitely don't get that much rain. It usually rains about once a week where I live, this past week it rained a lot but that wasn't normal haha. The main thing is that it's always hot. It stays up to 90 most of the year. The weather is just so random that's the thing. It can snow one day then the next be 85 degrees outside then the next rain then go back to being hot haha.

I picked these up today :)

The only reason I didn't get Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and I chose the Zymol was the smell lol. I had heard Zymol stuff smells great so I opened up the cap and I just couldn't resist buying it. The stuff smells really really sweet. It reminds me of a sweet snowcone I could buy around my house during the summer lol. And it works the same way, it polishes and removes swirls, and wax can be applied after it as well! Plus, I would like to later switch and try all zymol products, but their actual wax is expensive so that may take a while.

I will be detailing my car Sunday most likely :D

Does any one have an opinion about Mother's products?
I am practically sold on Meguiar's, but curious about Mother's. :D
I have never used Mother's, but I have only ever heard positive things about them!

I have used both mothers and meguiars professional. I like the meguiars professional line the most although it is verrryyyyy expensive. They carry most of it at Napa auto parts or some other stores. It works great though and well worth the price
What products from the professional line have you used?

Almost all of them. I used to detail cars for a dealership so I got all of the products for free plus a shop vac because i preferred to clean at my house :D
That's really cool! Did you like detailing for them?

Top Ten Detailing Mistakes - DRIVE CLEAN - YouTube

Thought this might be helpful for you guys.
Thanks for the video! I didn't know Armor All could actually harm your interior, that's good to know. Even though I already hate that stuff haha.

Today I was supposed to wash my car but it started to rain a little bit, so I just cleaned the interior portion. I know it's not necessarily a detailing product, but Chemical Guys air fresheners smell great! I got the Pina Colada for myself, french vanilla for my girlfriend, and the stripper scent for my best friend lol. They all smell amazing.
